These carvings are estimated to be more than 400 years old. Stone has been used for carving since ancient times for many reasons. Most types of stone are easier to find than metal ores, which have to be mined and smelted. Stone can be dug from the surface and carved with hand tools. Stone is more durable than wood, and carvings in stone last much longer than wooden artifacts. Stone comes in many varieties and artists have abundant choices in color, quality and relative hardness. Carving stone into sculpture is an activity older than civilization itself.

Plant and animal life, atmosphere and water are the major causes of weathering. Weathering breaks down and loosens the surface minerals of rock so they can be transported away by agents of erosion such as water, wind and ice. Differential weathering occurs when some parts of a rock weather at different rates than others.  

डोभा बनाने में क्या गड़बड़ी हो गई ? द्वारा डा. नितीश प्रियदर्शी भूवैज्ञानिक झारखंड सरकार की महत्वकांक्षी योजना में शामिल डोभा निर्माण योजना ( तालाबनुमा छोटी संरचना ) अब राज्य के लोगों के लिए ‘ मौत का कुआं ’ साबित हो रही है। राज्य में जल संचयन और जल संरक्षण के उद्देश्य से राज्यभर में करीब 200 करोड़ रुपये खर्च कर 1.77 लाख से ज्यादा डोभे का निर्माण कराया गया है।   डोभा निर्माण से दो फायदे तो निश्चित है पहला तो ये की बरसात का पानी जो पहले बह के निकल जाता था इस डोभा के निर्माण से कुछ हद तक रुकेगा और दूसरा की भूमिगत जल रिचार्ज होगा जिसकी अभी बहुत जरुरत है। झारखंड में सरकार ने राज्यभर में बरसात का पानी जमा करने के लिए पिछले दो महीने में पौने दो लाख डोभे का निर्माण करवाया है। इसका उद्देश्य गांव का पानी गांव में तथा खेत का पानी खेत में जमा करने का है , लेकिन इस पहली बरसात में ही ये डोभे जानलेवा साबित हो रहे हैं। आखिर डोभा बनाने में क्या गड़बड़ी हो गई जिसके चलते   इतने ब...

रांची शहर पिछले कई वर्षों से वायु प्रदुषण की चपेट में आता जा रहा है।   द्वारा डा नितीश प्रियदर्शी। वायुमण्डल पर्यावरण का एक महत्त्वपूर्ण हिस्सा है। मानव जीवन के लिए वायु का होना अति आवश्यक है। वायुरहित स्थान पर मानव जीवन की कल्पना करना करना भी बेकार है क्योंकि मानव वायु के बिना 5-6 मिनट से अधिक जिन्दा नहीं रह सकता। एक मनुष्य दिन भर में औसतन 20 हजार बार श्वास   लेता है। इसी श्वास के दौरान मानव 35 पौण्ड वायु का प्रयोग करता है। यदि यह प्राण देने वाली वायु शुद्ध नहीं होगी तो यह प्राण देने के बजाय प्राण ही लेगी। हमारे वायुमण्डल में नाइट्रोजन , आक्सीजन , कार्बन डाई आक्साइड , कार्बन मोनो आक्साइड आदि गैस एक निश्चित अनुपात में उपस्थित रहती हैं। यदि इनके अनुपात के सन्तुलन में परिवर्तन होते हैं तो वायुमण्डल अशुद्ध हो जाता है , इसे अशुद्ध करने वाले प्रदूषण कार्बन डाई आक्साइड , कार्बन मोनो आक्साइड , नाइट्रोजन आक्साइड , हाइड्रोकार्बन , धूल मिट्टी के कण...
